Camp Kupugani

About 90 minutes west of Chicago—Camp Kupugani provides a multicultural sleepaway camp that focuses on diversity and communication skills in a fun atmosphere—uniting girls of varied backgrounds and providing them with empowerment and community-building skills, so that girls aged 7 to 15 expand comfort zones and build self-esteem. More about camp here.

Camper comments bear out the program's positive effect. "Camp Kupugani helped me see that I am beautiful on the inside and out. Because of my time here at Camp Kupugani, I want to teach girls that they are strong independent women who can change the world." "I learned things they try to teach you in school but here they actually teach you: unity, diversity, self-respect, respect, communication, decision-making, and easy conflict resolution."

Parents are equally excited about the program; 100% of 2010 survey respondents were satisfied with their child's Camp Kupugani experience, and would recommend our camp to friends. Overwhelming majorities noted their child's improvement in: Acknowledgment & Appreciation of Diversity, Conflict Resolution Skills, Personal Growth/Self Confidence, Positive Self Image, Leadership Skill, Self Expression and Creativity, and Economic Literacy.
